Sorry this didn’t go up earlier! The internet in our hotel wasn’t working! The post itself was written yesterday so “today” meant on Saturday 🙂
Today we didn’t have anything planned to do as such, all we knew was we would go and do some sight seeing. What we would do along the way would be a surprise!
Today is going to be a photo filled post, not too much explaining as I believe the heart of what you’ll see is self explanatory.
We set out knowing we wanted to see one of the main gardens in Shinjuku: Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. It didn’t open until 9:00AM because here in Japan they actually clean the parks in the morning before visitors and they also have police who monitor traffic. Due to Japan now being on high-alert, they also do bag checks to make sure we didn’t bring anything illegal in, but also no alcohol.
We also got to see a beautiful building that housed a wedding back in the 18th century. One of the best parts was obviously seeing all the Cherry Blossoms! Not al were out yet, but it was still amazing. Before we left we got to sit in a traditional Tea House and be served Matcha (Green tea latte) and a Japanese Sweet.
Once we left Shinjuku we decided to go and see the Anime Japan 2016 Convention down at Koto. We had to catch a “monorail” that went over the water to a little island to where most of the “exciting” places were. It was basically the expensive part of Tokyo to live, as it was full of nice looking apartments and buildings.
I now truly understand how amazing the Japanese are at their Cosplays! They take it so seriously, that they get a spot to stand in while people walk around and photograph them! It was amazing!
On a side note: We learnt a few things today as well…that Shinjuku is super busy after 11:00AM in the morning (that is when shops open)!
That most toilets are not for “Foreigners” and are usually squat holes.
Finally we also learnt that Ramen is so much better here in Japan than in Australia!
Lastly here is today’s Countdown photo! thanks girls!
